Dear teachers and schoolmates,
Good evening.
It's my great honor to be here tonight, being commended for my grades in the term one exams. First, I would like to express my appreciations to our school, our teachers and colleagues. Thank you for all your help, encouragements and support over the past year. Thanks to the school for recognizing my improvement. I will work hard to keep up my level of achievement, and seek for more growth.
As a mapleleafer, I believe that everyone has the same dream as me. It is to enter the top universities in the world. An excellent grade is the entry pass of outstanding universities. We are able to bring our dreams to real life only when we have owned those marks. It is not what you can get in one day; it is a long accumulating process. When we are halfway through, many people may give up due to the same results in studies as before. I would like to tell them, when you feel to reach your limit is always when you are closest to achievement. If you choose to stop, you are abandoning a rare chance to jump on you grades. So, take a breath and keep it up. Soon you will receive the olive branch from success.
Besides academic studies, your performance in extra-curricular activities is another thing that western universities are looking at. At Maple Leaf, the school has provided us a variety of chances such as the poem reading competition, investigative study, community service and social practice. We should take initiative to participate in those activities, open up our minds and improve our abilities. Also, we need to keep all the proofs and ask for reference letters. That will undoubtedly increase our probability to be accepted to a university.
In the University Fair last weekend, we closely experienced the teaching resources and developing chances that the extraordinary universities are holding. None of the schools in China can compare with them. So guys, let's cheer ourselves up. Let's run as fast as we can towards our future success.
