Mr. James W. Beeke ---Superintendent

Mr. Beeke recently retired from British Columbia , Canada 's Ministry of Education, as the Inspector/Director over all independent schools in the province. He served as the Inspector for the past 7 years and as Deputy Inspector the previous 2 years. Prior to this, he served as a school principal for 21 years, at both elementary and high school levels, after teaching for 4 years. This totals nearly 35 years in education. He holds Bachelor of Arts (Education) and Master of Arts (Educational Administration) degrees from Western Michigan University .

Mr. Beeke also serves Maple Leaf Educational Systems as Vice-chair of the Board and Superintendent of Schools: British Columbia Programs.

 

Ms. Arlene Racicot - School Principal

Ms. Racicot has 16 years of experience as a school principal in British Columbia , Canada .  She has many years of experience as an elementary and secondary school teacher, school district subject coordinator, and curriculum specialist with British Columbia 's Ministry of Education.  She has provided professional development for teachers on a variety of subjects for her school district and provincial Ministry of Education.  Her wealth of teaching and administrative leadership is a valuable asset as educational leader of Dalian Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School .

Mr. Jason W o ng - Fine Arts, Physical Education, Computers, and Art

Mr. Wong is from Vancouver , British Columbia . He holds B.A. Degrees in Psychology and Family Studies.  He graduated with a B.Ed. degree from the University of British Columbia .  He has experience in teaching multi-age and multi-cultural classes, as well as last year at our school.  His interests include integrating technology into the c urriculum us ing internet resources and involving students in global studies .

Ms. Marly Cramer - Kindergarten-Grade 1 Teacher

Ms. Cramer is from Victoria , BC . She graduated with a degree in psychology and geography from Simon Fraser University with a minor in international and global education. She has experience teaching multicultural classes in Canada and Mexico , as well as last year at our school.

 

Ms. Erin Chester – Pre-school Teacher

Ms. Chester comes from Maple Ridge , BC , Canada . She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University , with a minor in Curriculum and Instruction. She then received a Bachelor of Education degree, with a minor in International and Global Education. She was working in the Maple Ridge school district before coming to work at the Dalian Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School . She likes to spend her spare time playing women's fast pitch softball.

Ms. Jessica MacGillivray - Grade 1/2 Teacher

Ms. MacGillivray is from Victoria , B.C. Canada . She graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree from University of British Columbia in 2005. Last year Ms. MacGillivray taught Grade 10 English and Social Studies at DMLIS at the Jinshitan Campus. She has specialized experience teaching primary classes in BC.

 

 

 

Ms. Mary Aspler - Grade 3/4 Teacher

Ms. Mary Aspler is from Edmonton , A berta , Canada .  She graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.A. in Linguistics.  She also holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia .

 

 

Ms. Katie Campbell - Gra de 4/5 Teacher

Ms. Campbell is from Vancouver , BC , Canada . She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Victoria , as well as, a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of British Columbia . She has experience working with diverse students in a multicultural environment.

 

 

Ms. Lael Sleep - Grade 4/5 Foundations Teacher

Ms. Sleep is from Vancouver , Canada . She has completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Education degree at the University of British Columbia .  She has traveled throughout South East Asia and North America .  This is her first time to China and she is excited to be working and living in Dalian .

 

Mr. Chad Benson - Grade 5/6 Teacher

Mr. Benson is from Sioux City , Iowa , United States of America . He graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City , Iowa , with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a Middle School Endorsement. Along with his passion for teaching, he brings with him previous cross-cultural experience from Kenya , Africa .

 

 

Ms. Eran Foreman - Grade 6-9 Foundations Teacher

Ms. Foreman is a recent graduate of the Technology and Critical Thinking Bachelor of Education Program at the University of British Columbia . Her teaching experience includes working within a student-led, process-based multi-aged framework in a collaborative team-teaching setting and in a Montessori pre-school. Ms. Foreman also holds a Bachelor of Kinesthetics degree from McMaster University and a Diploma of Textile Arts from Capilano College .

 

Mr. Brent Foster – Grade 7 Teacher

Mr. Foster is from Richmond , BC , Canada and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of British Columbia , with a major in history. Recently, he completed his Bachelor of Education degree at UBC, with a specialization in middle-years education.

 

 

Ms. Sheila Ang - Grade 8/9 Teacher

Ms. Ang is from Vancouver , BC , Canada . She graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in Science, from the University of British Columbia . She has had experience teaching ESL elementary, and high school students.

 

 

Ms. Grace Kim - Grade 9 Foundations Teacher

Miss. Kim is from Vancouver , British Columbia . She holds Bachelor of Arts in History and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of British Columbia . She has experience working in multi-age and ESL settings. She is fluent in French with some knowledge of Korean.

 

 

Ms. Ruth Beeke - Librarian

Mrs. Ruth Beeke is from Chilliwack , British Columbia , Canada .  She has been involved in education for more than 30 years. She is currently serving as our school librarian.

 

 

Ms. Berglind Einarsdottir - Music Teacher

Ms. Berglind Einarsdottir graduated with two degrees, a Bachelor of Arts in Icelandic and a Music Teacher degree with a focus on classical singing. She has taught both in elementary and music schools for more than 10 years, working with children from grades 1-10.

 

 

Ms. Jennifer Lee - Administration Director

Ms. Lee graduated from Wuhan University with a dual diploma in economics and law. She went to England for post-graduate studies at Hull University and earned her Masters of Business Administration degree there. She is responsible for daily administration of the Foreign Nationals School .

 

 

Ms. Shirley Zheng — Principal Secretary

Ms. Shirley Zheng is from China . She graduated from Daqing Petroleum Institute with a Bachelor Degree of English. She has passed TEM-8 and has been certified the Committee of Shanghai Interpretation Test of Advanced Level. She has experience in translation and being secretary. She is responsible for school enquires and student recruitment.

 

 

Ms. Alice Chen - Secretary

Mc. Chen is the secretary for the Principal. She graduated from Liao Ning University with a major in Korean.

 

 

 

Ms. Jenny Wang - Mandarin Language Teacher

Ms. Wang is a Chinese - certified Mandarin Language teacher. She has previous experience teaching Mandarin to foreign students of various ages.

 

 

 

Ms. Vicky Xu - Mandarin Language Teacher

Ms. Xu is a Chinese - certified Mandarin Language teacher. She has ten years of experience teaching Mandarin.
